Questions we get asked most

If yours isn't here, call us — we'd rather answer it in two minutes than have you guessing.

How much does a driveway gate cost in Melbourne?

Most single driveway gates land between $3,000 and $8,000 supplied and installed, depending on width, design complexity and whether you add an automatic opener. Automatic sliding gates with a motor typically start around $6,500. Blade fencing is quoted per linear metre, usually from around $320/m for a 1.8 m run.

Do you really do free measure and quote?

Yes — anywhere across Melbourne & surrounding suburbs. There is no call-out fee and no obligation. We measure, talk through designs and finishes, and leave you with a written fixed-price quote.

How long from quote to installed gate?

Fabrication is about two to three weeks from approved drawings. Installation is usually one day for a gate, and one to three days for a full fencing run. We give you a firm date when you accept the quote.

Do I need a council permit?

Usually not. Fencing up to 2 m at the side and rear, and 1.2 m at the front, generally doesn't need a permit in Victoria. Heritage overlays, corner blocks and main-road frontages have their own rules. We check your address during the measure and tell you before you commit — not after.

Swing gate or sliding gate?

A swing gate is simpler and cheaper, and suits a flat driveway with room to open inward. A sliding gate is better on a sloped driveway, a short driveway, or where the gate would otherwise swing across the footpath. We check the fall and clearance on site and recommend whichever actually works.

Can you automate a gate I already have?

Usually yes, if the gate is structurally sound and moves freely. We inspect the posts, hinges and clearance first. If the gate is too far gone, we'll tell you rather than sell you a motor that will burn out in a year.

What about rust and maintenance?

Wrought iron is hot-dip galvanised before powder coating; aluminium doesn't rust at all. Either way there is nothing to restain. Hose it down occasionally. Motors get a service check about once a year, which we can do for you.

Are you insured?

Yes — fully insured with public liability cover on every job. Ask us for the certificate and we'll send it with the quote.

What areas of Melbourne do you cover?

We cover 141 suburbs across Melbourne, split into regions each with a dedicated estimator. We also travel to Sunbury, Melton, the Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Glen by arrangement.

What payment terms do you offer?

A deposit to start fabrication, with the balance due on completion. We don't ask for full payment up front.
