Privacy without building a wall
Blade fencing screens the street completely while still letting the breeze through. It's the fence that suits Melbourne's weather — and unlike timber, it won't warp, rot or need restaining every two years.
Why blades instead of a solid panel
Wind passes through
A solid fence is a sail. Blades shed the load, so posts stay straight.
Still full privacy
The overlap blocks sightlines at normal angles — you're not on display.
No rust, no rot
Powder-coated aluminium. Coastal suburbs near the bay are no problem.
Nothing to maintain
Hose it down occasionally. That's the whole maintenance schedule.
Configurations
Horizontal blades
The modern look. Runs with the house line and makes narrow yards feel wider.
Vertical blades
Reads more like a classic picket from a distance — suits period homes.
Slatted screens
For side returns, bin enclosures, pool equipment and air-con units.
Heights and permits: front fences are generally capped at 1.2 m without a permit, side and rear at 2 m. Heritage overlays and corner blocks differ. We check your address before quoting, not after.
What it costs
Blade fencing is quoted per linear metre, supplied and installed. Most Melbourne jobs land in this range:
- Standard 1.8 m run — from around $320/m
- Taller 2.1 m run — from around $380/m
- Sloped or stepped sites — quoted on site
- Matching gate — priced with the fence, cheaper than separate
Prices are a guide only. The written quote you get after the measure is the price you pay.
Good to know before you call
- Rough length of the run in metres
- Whether the ground is level or slopes
- Whether it's front, side or rear
- Whether an old fence needs removing first
Don't measure it precisely — a rough number is enough for us to sanity-check the budget before we drive out.
